What is a confidence interval?
A survey result comes from a sample, not from everyone. A confidence interval is the range the true value for the whole population is likely to fall in, given the sample you collected. “62% of customers would recommend us, 95% CI 57.2% to 66.8%” is far more honest than “62%” on its own.
The confidence level describes the method, not one interval: if you repeated the survey many times and built a 95% interval each time, about 95% of those intervals would contain the true value.
